Location: Highly flexible home/office with ability to travel to Waverley Care’s offices across Edinburgh, Glasgow, and Inverness
Salary: £46,800 per annum (pay review pending)
Waverley Care is Scotland’s leading HIV and hepatitis C charity, with a vision for a Scotland where no one has to face HIV alone. Scotland is on track to become one of the first countries in the world to achieve zero HIV transmissions, and Waverley Care will play a pivotal role in getting us to this historical landmark for sexual health in Scotland.
Although treatable, HIV still has the power to knock people off their feet and have detrimental impacts on all aspects of their lives. The stigma and shame surrounding HIV holds people back and makes it different to other lifelong conditions. Decades of discrimination and misinformation of HIV, prevents many people at risk getting a test and knowing their status, out of fear. Waverley Care aims to fight this stigma by empowering people with HIV to live full and healthy lives.
The Role
The role of Head of Corporate Services is a senior role that provides an exciting opportunity to play a vital role in Waverley Care’s ambitious 5-year strategic plan, to achieve zero new cases of HIV by 2030. Currently within the 1st year of this plan, it is an exciting and historical point to join the organisation and become part of a passionate, dynamic, and ambitious team seeking to create real-life change and impact.
The successful candidate will play a pivotal role in helping to set the strategic direction for the organisation and they will use governance skills, to work collaboratively, including with the board, with whom they will have high exposure to.
The role will include leading and shaping the organisation’s financial strategy and drive its long-term financial sustainability, ensuring it has robust financial planning processes in place, as well as ambitious income generation strategies. They will oversee the fundraising team and provide the leadership expertise and development momentum needed as Waverley Care embark on a journey which will see significant increase in unrestricted income over the next 5 years.
The position is also responsible for the creation and delivery of a new people strategy, ensuring that Waverley Care is a supportive employer of choice with a focus on staff development, and that we attract and retain the best employees.
About the person
A highly credible and dynamic leader with a strong understanding of organisation management and governance. Currently or having previously held a senior management role, you thrive in environments that are fast paced and require a creative and solutions focused mindset.
You bring expertise of funding in the charity sector with a breadth of experience in financial management which enables you to financially appraise strategic and operational decisions and deliver on the development and management of an organisation’s budget.
You are excited by the prospect of giving leadership to our ambitious fundraising team, supporting, and inspiring them to meet their goals.
You have a keen interest in the development of effective teams within an organisation, and a drive to use your expertise to ensure that Waverley Care has the best possible employee experience.
You bring a practical understanding of funding and strong skills in budget planning and financial strategy and are determined and proactive. You enjoy the challenge of innovation, and you are an enthusiastic and effective decision maker, able to take initiative and drive change when it matters most.
You’re a confident communicator, as comfortable having a coffee with a service user and hearing their story as giving a presentation at a board meeting.
