35 hours a week [The Board will consider compressed hours or a 4-day week for the right candidate]
High Street Office, Greenock, IWA Refuge with some hybrid working

For over 35 years, Inverclyde Women’s Aid (IWA) has been providing information and advice to women, children and young people on domestic abuse, rape and sexual abuse across Inverclyde.

IWA is affiliated with Scottish Women’s Aid. All its services are free, impartial, and confidential, aimed at providing a safe space away from abuse, violence and oppression. Please see further details on the website: https://www.inverclydewomensaid.co.uk/

The Role:

The role of Director provides an exciting opportunity to get involved at a stimulating time for IWA. We’ve just launched a new website, we are in the process of moving office and there is more to come. It’s all happening at IWA and we need a Director to build on our legacy of the last 35 + years and tap into the potential for developing our resources and services.

You will lead and support the organisation. You will provide structure to the IWA team through the delivery of domestic and sexual abuse survivor services, finance, fundraising, business and partnership development, administration, facilities management, human resources, health and safety, ICT, and internal and external communications.

You will work closely with our Board to ensure we comply with legal and regulatory requirements and good practice in all aspects of our work. This includes accounting to funders and meeting all funding conditions.

There is scope for IWA’s development and growth. The new Director will seek to develop our reputation as a provider of excellent services by designing and championing new opportunities and partnership development.

The Candidate:

Who are you and what can you bring?

First and foremost, you’ll be a strong values-based leader with a track record of delivering services.

You do not have to come from a background working with anti-violence or abuse services, but you should be able to demonstrate a passion for the aims and mission of the service.

You will also have experience of running an organisation and leading and/or developing projects and services. You will have excellent organisational and governance skills, with experience of working closely with a Board in a professional capacity. You will relish a fast-paced environment and will have the ability to prioritise and delegate tasks effectively. Additionally, experience of developing funding initiatives, income streams or working with grants will be helpful. As a strong decision maker, you will also be financially competent.

Ideally, you will have one or more of the following qualifications:

  • SVQ Social Services and Healthcare SCQF Level 9
  • SVQ Care Services Leadership and Management SCQF Level 10
  • Any award in management that is certificated at or above SCQF Level 9* (min 60 credits) and mapped against the National Occupational Standards: Leadership and Management for Care Services SCQF 10.

If you do not have these qualifications, we will support you to complete them within three years.

The Board will consider compressed hours or a 4-day week for the right candidate. The Director is a keyholder and therefore must live within a 45 minute - 1hour journey of Greenock. More details can be found in the job description below.
