Established in the 1980s, withYOU emerged as an independent charity in 2018, previously part of Castle Rock Edinvar and later Places for People Scotland.
Now rebranded as Care Support Scotland, the mission of the organisation is to ensure those it supports are provided with expert services that make a positive impact for people who require support with independent living. Care Support Scotland's people are passionate, caring professionals, thriving within their progressive learning environment.
The charity provides services for people aged 16 and above, offering a range of support from housing to 24/7 care, grouped into three divisions:
- Homelessness, Prevention, and Housing Support
- Older Age Care
- Learning Disability and Neurodiversity
Care Support Scotland supports over 1200 people each year, employs 250 staff, and has an annual turnover exceeding £7 million. The charity is currently undergoing a significant transformation, including a rebranding initiative to enhance its visibility and impact.

Who Care Support Scotland Is looking for:
Care Support Scotland is looking for several trustees to join the board, contributing their skills and knowledge to support the charity's strategic development. No prior experience as a Trustee is essential as a full induction is provided but previous governance experience is desirable.

The role
Care Support Scotland is seeking dedicated and passionate individuals to join its Board of Trustees. As a Trustee, individuals will play a crucial role in the governance and strategic development of the charity, ensuring that it continues to provide high-quality care and support to those in need.
As a Trustee, individuals will:
- Support the Chair and CEO in leading the organisation, demonstrating withYOU’s values.
- Ensure compliance with legal and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to the development and implementation of organisational strategy.
- Monitor organisational performance and ensure effective risk management.
- Promote good governance and participate in the induction of new Board members.
- Foster strong relationships with stakeholders and senior leadership.
Time Commitment: The Board meets a minimum of 6 times a year but in between meetings, Trustees may contribute their knowledge and skills to support aspects of the organisation’s strategic development The role requires approximately 2.5 to 5 hours per month, varying throughout the year based on organisational needs. Trustees are appointed for a term of four years, with the possibility of extension.
