Humanist Society Scotland (HSS) is Scotland’s national humanist charity. We are a member-powered organisation campaigning to make Scotland a more secular, rational, and socially just country — from assisted dying to LGBT+ rights and much more. Our celebrants ensure that people across Scotland have access to humanist weddings, funerals, and naming ceremonies, conducted with care, skill, and deep personal attention.
HSS is at a critical point in its evolution. We are in the process of recruiting a new permanent CEO while entering the start of a new parliament (2026-31) in Scotland. We have a chance to bring new momentum and allies to our campaigning work at Holyrood and in the country at large.
We are also continuing to grow and develop our celebrancy network, so that we can continue to offer brilliant, bespoke humanist ceremonies around the country. And we must continue to support our teams of volunteers and advocates around Scotland to share the ethos and values of humanism.
We need new voices and new talent on our governing board.
