Interim Finance Business Partner / Associate Finance Business Partner (6 months)
Hybrid
Salary: £50,000 - £67,000
About Us
Glasgow Caledonian University (GCU) is a leading modern university with a strong commitment to excellence, innovation and positive impact. Our Finance team plays a key role in supporting the University’s strategic priorities, ensuring strong financial management, effective decision-making and sound governance across the organisation.
We are now looking to appoint an Interim Finance Business Partner / Associate Finance Business Partner to join our Finance Business Partnering team.
About the Role
Reporting to the Interim Head of Finance, you will be part of a collaborative Finance Business Partnering team supporting academic schools, the London campus and a range of professional and support areas across the University.
You will provide high-quality financial insight and advice, supporting budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, risk management and strategic decision-making. The role will also contribute to areas including infrastructure investment, insurance and the University’s statutory TRAC return.
This is a varied role offering the opportunity to work closely with colleagues across the University and develop a broad understanding of its financial and operational activities. Responsibilities within the Finance Business Partnering team are rotated periodically to build breadth of knowledge, share best practice and make the most of individual skills and experience.
The appointment will be made at either Finance Business Partner or Associate Finance Business Partner level, depending on your experience, qualifications and skills.
About You
We are looking for a confident and commercially minded finance professional who can analyse complex information, provide clear financial insight and build effective relationships with colleagues at all levels.
You will be comfortable working with large datasets and have strong Excel skills, including lookups and pivot tables. You will be able to manage your own workload, prioritise effectively, solve problems and provide practical options and solutions.
You will communicate clearly with both finance and non-finance colleagues, have excellent attention to detail and take ownership of your work. A fully qualified accountancy qualification and relevant experience will be expected for the Finance Business Partner role, with the Associate level offering an opportunity for someone earlier in their professional development.
Above all, you will be collaborative, proactive and committed to providing a high-quality finance partnering service that supports the University’s wider objectives.
