Scottish Episcopal Church – Head of Safeguarding

The Scottish Episcopal Church is working with Aspen People, to appoint a new Provincial Safeguarding Officer (Head of Safeguarding). The new Head of Safeguarding will work to provide strategic leadership in the development and implementation of safeguarding policy and practice in the Scottish Episcopal Church (SEC), including the leading of a small provincial team. They will also work to provide advice at all levels in the Scottish Episcopal Church including advice to bishops, clergy and laity, the provincial Safeguarding Committee and other SEC bodies. The Head of Safeguarding will be responsible for leading the provincial safeguarding team, including the oversight and delivery of appropriate training across the SEC.
 
The ideal candidate will have a comprehensive understanding of contemporary safeguarding law, policy, and practice and how it applies to a voluntary or faith organisation. They will also have senior manager or practitioner experience and knowledge of safeguarding working with children or vulnerable adults and ability to demonstrate transferable knowledge across such fields.
