About Us
Our Cathedral is a place of faith, heritage, community and welcome, with a rich history and an important role at the heart of public life.
Alongside our worship and ministry, we care for a significant historic building, welcome visitors, deliver public benefit activities and generate income through commercial and events activity. We are committed to responsible stewardship of our resources and to ensuring the Cathedral remains sustainable for future generations.
We are looking for an experienced Head of Finance to lead our financial function and play a key role in supporting the Cathedral’s future.
About the Role
Reporting to the Chief Operating Officer and working as part of the senior management team, you will provide strategic financial insight alongside strong operational leadership.
You will oversee the Cathedral’s financial management, including budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, audit, cash flow, reserves and restricted funds. You will lead and develop the finance team, ensure effective financial controls and systems, and provide clear financial advice to senior colleagues, budget holders, trustees and committees.
This is a varied and influential role, supporting everything from day-to-day operations to income generation, fundraising and major projects.
Please see the attached Job Description for full details of the role and responsibilities.
About You
You will be an experienced and qualified finance professional, with strong financial management, reporting and leadership experience. You will combine sound technical knowledge with excellent communication skills and the ability to explain financial information clearly to non-finance colleagues.
You will be collaborative, analytical and well organised, with a practical approach and a strong commitment to good governance and financial stewardship.
Experience in a charity, heritage, cultural, visitor attraction or faith-based organisation would be advantageous, although we welcome applications from candidates with relevant experience in other sectors.
This is an opportunity to use your financial expertise in a role with real purpose, supporting the sustainability and future of a much-loved Cathedral.
