Govanhill Housing Association is one of Scotland’s foremost community-focused organisations, working at the heart of one of the country’s most diverse and vibrant neighbourhoods. We are committed to delivering excellent services, strengthening communities and creating opportunities for people to thrive. As we look to the future, we are seeking an outstanding Director of People & Corporate Services to join our Senior Management Team and help shape the next chapter of our organisation.

This is a pivotal leadership role with responsibility for people, governance and corporate services across the organisation. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive, you will lead a broad portfolio including human resources, organisational development, governance, risk management, health and safety, performance reporting, procurement, facilities management and data governance. You will play a central role in ensuring the Association continues to operate effectively, responsibly and in line with the highest standards of compliance and corporate stewardship.

At its heart, however, this is a people leadership role. We are looking for someone who understands that organisational success starts with engaged, motivated and well-supported colleagues. You will champion learning and development across the Association, creating a culture where people are encouraged to grow, develop their skills and achieve their potential. Working closely with managers and staff, you will help shape a modern workforce strategy that supports both individual career development and organisational performance.

We are seeking a forward-thinking leader who brings fresh ideas, sound judgement and a contemporary approach to people and organisational development. You will be comfortable leading change, building strong relationships and influencing at all levels, while ensuring that our values remain at the centre of everything we do. You will combine strategic thinking with operational credibility and have the confidence to advise the Chief Executive, Management Committee and senior colleagues on complex people, governance and organisational matters.

The successful candidate will have significant leadership experience within a complex organisation and a strong track record in people management, organisational development and corporate governance. Experience of working at a senior level within a regulated environment would be advantageous, alongside an understanding of risk, compliance and business improvement. Direct social housing experience is not required where transferability and interest in the sector can be demonstrated.

This is an opportunity to make a lasting contribution to an organisation with a strong social purpose, ambitious plans and a genuine commitment to its people and communities. If you are an inclusive and progressive leader who is passionate about developing people, strengthening organisational culture and helping organisations succeed through their people, we would be delighted to hear from you.

For a confidential discussion please contact Nigel Fortnum or David Currie at Aspen People on 0141 212 7555.

To apply, please upload your CV and cover letter (as one document). Applicants will be shortlisted for interview by matching the details given in their CV and covering letter against the job description.

We would therefore ask applicants to provide clear evidence to show how your experience, skills and knowledge match those requirements as well as why you are interested in the role. We would also be grateful if you could also include details of two referees (please note that referees will not be contacted until offer stage or without prior consent), current salary and notice period.

Please note that you will receive an automatic acknowledgement of your application – if you do not receive this please contact Nicole Don at Aspen on 0141 212 7555.

Offers of appointment are subject to the receipt of satisfactory references and proof of eligibility to work in the UK.
