As a national public body, Children’s Hearings Scotland is one of a number of dedicated organisations that work as part of the Children’s Hearings System. This care and justice system is unique to Scotland and exists to protect the safety and wellbeing of infants, children and young people nationally, and ensures their rights are upheld and protected. CHS recruits, trains and supports around 2,300 volunteers to ensure children’s hearings take place.
Over the past year CHS has taken steps to ensure that our digital and data infrastructure can support our requirements now and, in the future, as we implement hearings re-design. As we continue this journey, this new dedicated Director of Digital role reflects the growing strategic importance of digital, data and technology in supporting the future of the organisation and the wider Children's Hearings System. This important leadership role will enable us to confidently take the next steps and embrace the opportunities these changes can deliver to enable effective and innovative approaches to implementing hearings re-design; delivery and maintenance of safe and secure systems and improved user experiences.
The core purpose of this role is to provide strategic leadership for development, implementation and use of technology across CHS, that enables CHS to deliver against its strategic ambitions, aligning this with the needs and development of digital solutions across the wider Children’s Hearings System to meet The Promise 2030. The postholder is responsible for the development and implementation of CHS' Digital Strategy, digital transformation, information and data management technology throughout the work of the organisation. The postholder will drive the adoption of innovative technologies, provide infrastructure that enables data-driven decision-making, and modern digital platforms to improve organisational performance, service outcomes, and user experience. The post offers a unique opportunity to take on a newly established senior leadership role and deliver significant digital transformation to ultimately support delivering positive outcomes for children, young people and families across Scotland.
The ideal candidate will be an excellent influencer and communicator, able to build strategic partnerships across Scottish Government; SCRA and other key hearings system partners and influence key partners in assisting delivery of responsive and effective services which are able to maximise positive outcomes. They can confidently contribute to corporate strategy, governance as well as long term transformation across the organisation as a part of the senior leadership team through effective collaboration. They are an experienced senior leader and are able to engage, coach and motivate colleagues across an organisation, as well as external stakeholders, through change.
