CrossReach is one of Scotland’s largest third sector social care providers, delivering compassionate, person-centred services to individuals, families, and communities. With a proud history and a clear vision for the future, CrossReach is committed to ensuring children, young people, and families are supported to flourish. As the organisation continues to grow and respond to evolving needs, it is now seeking an outstanding leader to join as Director of Children and Family Services.

The Role
Reporting to the Chief Executive, the Director will provide strategic leadership, direction, and oversight of all services supporting children, young people, and families. This portfolio includes services that are vital in safeguarding, nurturing, and empowering those in need, while also promoting innovation and best practice across the sector.

In addition, the postholder will have responsibility for the management of CrossReach’s fundraising and engagement activities, working closely with a specialist Head of Fundraising and their team, to develop innovative campaigns, partnerships, and initiatives that secure sustainable income and raise the organisation’s profile.

As a member of the Corporate Management Team, the Director will contribute to the wider vision, growth, and sustainability of CrossReach, ensuring services are child-centred, outcome-focused, and aligned with statutory and regulatory requirements.

Key priorities will include:

  • Providing visible, values-led leadership across Children and Family Services
  • Ensuring the highest standards of care, safeguarding, and compliance
  • Developing service models that respond to the needs of children, families, and caregivers
  • Leading and supporting senior managers to achieve excellence in their roles
  • Building and maintaining strong partnerships with government, commissioners, churches, and community organisations
  • Overseeing the fundraising and engagement portfolio to ensure financial sustainability
  • Contributing actively to corporate leadership, governance, and organisational strategy

The Person

CrossReach is seeking an exceptional leader who can bring:

  • Extensive senior leadership experience in children’s social care, family support, or a related sector
  • Strong strategic and operational capability, able to translate vision into action
  • Sound financial acumen, with experience of budget management and resource allocation
  • Experience working with external partners, commissioners, funders, and community stakeholders
  • Proven ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams, developing and supporting senior managers to deliver excellence
  • Track record of delivering high-quality, outcome-focused services with measurable impact
  • Deep understanding of safeguarding, regulatory frameworks, and national policy affecting children and family services
  • Knowledge of fundraising or income generation (desirable)

Above all, the successful candidate will be:

  • Values-driven and passionate about improving the lives of children, young people, and families
  • Able to uphold and reflect CrossReach’s Christian ethos, with a personal Christian faith (an Occupational Requirement under the Equality Act 2010)

This is a rare opportunity to play a pivotal role in shaping services for children and families across Scotland – leading with compassion, vision, and integrity at the heart of one of Scotland’s most respected organisations.
