The Deputy Director of Finance role will lead the overall operational management of the finance function in the University, ensuring integration of process, policy, practice, and people. The role leads, motivates and manages the Finance & Procurement Directorate (c 80 staff with 4 direct reports) and has direct responsibility for department costs of c£3.6m whilst influencing total University spend of c.£300m.
The role is responsible for positioning finance and procurement as a strategic, business focused professional service, delivering the highest standards of professional advice, financial integrity, and effective stewardship.
The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant (CCAB or equivalent) with demonstrable experience in a role dealing with financial analysis, management reporting, forecasting and process improvement. You will have experience of working in a large and complex organisation with a strong track record in designing and implementing significant financial systems/process changes. The University is seeking an individual who has visible and clear leadership style and is able to build effective relationships with senior managers across the organisation.
