About Us
The Power Networks Demonstration Centre (PNDC), part of the University of Strathclyde, is a world-leading innovation centre accelerating the transition to Net Zero. We provide a real-world environment where industry, researchers and policymakers collaborate to test, validate and de-risk next-generation technologies across power networks, decarbonised heat, and low-carbon transport. With the launch of our Advanced Net Zero Innovation Centre (ANZIC), PNDC is expanding its capabilities to support breakthrough solutions across whole-energy systems, digital substations, power electronics, and electrified transport.
About the Role
We are seeking a visionary and hands-on Chief Technology Officer to join our Senior Leadership Team. Reporting to the CEO, you will lead PNDC’s technical strategy and oversee the testing, validation and demonstration of emerging technologies across power networks, transport and heat. You will develop technology roadmaps, shape innovation programmes with industry partners, and ensure projects deliver meaningful impact on the path to Net Zero. Acting as the global technical face of PNDC, you will also build strategic partnerships, guide investment in new capabilities, and ensure our facilities continue to accelerate real-world deployment of cutting-edge energy solutions.
About You
You are an exceptional technical leader with deep expertise in power systems and a proven track record of delivering innovation in an industry environment. You combine strategic vision with hands-on testing and validation experience and have the ability to translate complex technologies into commercially impactful solutions. With strong industry networks and excellent relationship-building skills, you are comfortable engaging with senior stakeholders across industry, academia and government. Above all, you are passionate about advancing power networks and whole-energy systems to drive the global Net Zero transition.
