Seescape (formerly Fife Society for the Blind) is the leading provider of support services for people with visual impairment in Fife. Seescape delivers services across several key areas:
- Sight Support & Rehabilitation – providing statutory and specialist support to visually impaired individuals.
- Accessible Technology – offering training, advice, and support on smart devices and software to enhance independence.
- Befriending, Clubs & Groups – reducing social isolation through volunteer-led programmes, community hubs, and activities.
- Optician / Low Vision Clinics – operating specialist clinics dedicated to people with sight loss, including Seescape’s charity optician service.
The Role
Seescape is seeking a Chief Executive to lead the organisation, drive its strategy, and ensure high-quality delivery and development of its services. Reporting directly to the Board of Trustees, the Chief Executive will play a pivotal role in shaping the next chapter of Seescape’s journey.
Key responsibilities include:
- Providing visionary and values-led leadership across the organisation, inspiring staff and volunteers.
- Working with the Board of Trustees and senior leadership to define and deliver an ambitious strategic plan aligned with Seescape’s mission and values.
- Building and maintaining strong partnerships with statutory bodies, funders, community organisations, and other stakeholders.
- Ensuring financial sustainability, delivering a balanced budget, and overseeing income generation, grants, and fundraising strategy.
- Championing and driving the use of technology and innovation in service delivery.
- Overseeing service quality and compliance, ensuring safeguarding, regulatory frameworks, and outcome-focused delivery are embedded across the organisation.
- Representing Seescape publicly, advocating for the needs of people with visual impairment and raising the profile of its work regionally and nationally.
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will:
- Bring proven senior leadership experience in the third sector, health/social care, or service-led organisations, with a track record of strategic delivery and organisational growth.
- Demonstrate strong business and financial acumen, including budgeting, financial oversight, and income generation.
- Possess outstanding communication, influencing, and stakeholder-management skills.
- Show a proactive approach to service innovation and technology, comfortable driving change and embedding modern ways of working.
- Have experience managing complex services, including statutory relationships, regulatory compliance, and service performance.
- Be values-driven, passionate about improving the lives of people with visual impairment, and committed to Seescape’s mission of inclusion, independence, and community.
- While prior experience in the sight-loss sector is not mandatory, a genuine interest in and empathy for the needs of visually impaired people is essential.
