Carr Gomm is a leading Scottish social care and community development organisation, committed to enabling people to live safely, well, and to do the things that matter most to them. Rooted in person-centred practice and guided by their values of respect, interdependence, choice, control, openness and honesty, kindness and empathy, Carr Gomm works across Scotland supporting individuals and communities to thrive.
Carr Gomm is at an exciting point in its journey. With a strong track record, excellent care inspection results, and a stable, high-performing team, the organisation is now looking ahead – not just to continue doing what they do well, but to influence, innovate, and shape what the next generation of care services looks like in Scotland. They are now seeking an exceptional leader to join them as Chief Executive Officer, following the planned retirement of their long-standing CEO.
The Role
Accountable to the Board, the Chief Executive will lead the organisation to deliver on its mission and strategic plan, ensuring the delivery of safe, responsive, and innovative services that are built around the needs of the people Carr Gomm supports. Working closely with the Deputy CEO and an experienced Executive Team, the Chief Executive will provide strategic direction, uphold organisational values, and represent Carr Gomm nationally.
The successful candidate will lead a values-led organisation that is passionate about people, partnership, and progress. They will work collaboratively across the sector, driving forward the organisation’s ambitions to be a bold voice for change and a champion for those whose voices are too often unheard.
This is a key moment for Carr Gomm – while their foundation is strong, the future of the sector is evolving rapidly. The next Chief Executive will bring a steady hand, while also thinking ahead: responding to change, identifying opportunities, and leading the organisation to innovate, adapt and grow.
Key priorities will include:
- Leading a high-performing, values-driven team to deliver strategic objectives
- Continuing to champion excellent, person-centred services across all localities
- Playing a visible role in national policy discussions, advocating for change in social care
- Building strong partnerships and raising Carr Gomm’s profile across the sector
- Supporting the development of new and creative service models, including around community development, digital inclusion, and prevention
- Ensuring robust financial stewardship and a sustainable future
The Person
Carr Gomm is seeking an experienced, credible leader who shares their passion for social justice and who is committed to delivering inclusive, empowering services. The ideal candidate will bring a track record of senior leadership, experience in the third or public sector, and the ability to work collaboratively and with integrity.
They will be someone who is approachable and grounded, with the strategic vision to see what’s coming next. A natural relationship-builder, they will understand the importance of listening to, learning from, and involving people at all levels – from staff and Board members to the people Carr Gomm supports and their communities.
The ideal candidate will have a background in social care, alongside a strong understanding of the Scottish policy landscape and funding environment. The successful candidate will also be financially astute, resilient, and energised by the opportunity to influence the future of care in Scotland.
If you’re an experienced leader looking for a meaningful, high-impact role at the heart of a values-led organisation – and if you’re excited by the opportunity to both honour the legacy of success and lead the way into the future – Carr Gomm would love to hear from you.
You can contact Lauryn Pringle or Debbie Shields at Aspen People for a confidential discussion about the role on 0141 212 7555.
