Kincardine and Mearns Citizens Advice Bureau is dedicated to empowering individuals through knowledge and support. As a proud member of the esteemed Scottish Citizens Advice network since 2009, the bureau is committed to providing free, impartial, and confidential advice to clients, assisting them in navigating life's challenges with confidence.

Annually, the bureau serves over 1500 clients, resolving more than 4000 issues and securing over £1.22 million in financial gains. As a registered charity, the organisation relies on the generosity of donors and the dedication of volunteers to sustain these critical services.

The bureau offers comprehensive advice and guidance across various areas, including benefits, consumer issues, immigration, workplace disputes, and more. Specialized services such as Pension Wise, Welfare Rights, and Money Advice cater to specific needs, ensuring clients receive tailored support.

The role

Kincardine and Mearns Citizens Advice Bureau (KAMCAB) is seeking a dedicated Bureau Manager to oversee operational and strategic management. Reporting to the Board of Trustees, the Bureau Manager will develop and implement plans, support staff and volunteers, and build stakeholder partnerships.

Behind the services are 8 dedicated staff members and 14 volunteers, all equipped with a minimum of six months of rigorous training. The commitment to excellence extends to every interaction, ensuring clients receive expert advice, every time.

Role responsibilities will include:

  • Developing and implementing strategic plans with the Board.
  • Managing staff and volunteers to achieve goals.
  • Cultivating a positive work culture and strong partnerships.
  • Overseeing finances, budgeting, and income monitoring.
  • Securing funding for continuity and projects.
  • Promoting bureau work for additional support.
  • Maintaining and developing stakeholder contracts.
  • Identifying new service opportunities

The ideal candidate will have:

  • At least 2 years’ experience within a similar organisation or field
  • Leadership experience in a comparable working environment
  • Managerial experience in staff recruitment, training, supervision and performance management
  • Experience in financial/budget control and risk management
  • Experience in completing funding applications 
  • Project management 
  • Experience of relationship management with key  stakeholders/funders
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage complex situations
  • Understanding of social exclusion issues and the role of the voluntary sector
  • Knowledge of methods of fundraising and standards
  • Understanding of local authority structures
