Trustees
Scottish Commission for People with Learning Disabilities
Location: Flexible

At the Scottish Commission for People with Learning Disabilities (SCLD) we are focused on making a positive difference to the lives of people with learning disabilities. We do this by generating new ideas and by bringing people together to try to remove the barriers faced by people with learning disabilities and their supporters. As part of this work, we act as a partner to the Scottish Government in the development and delivery of learning disability strategy and policy, and we partner with a wide range of organisations and groups who share our values and goals.

We are searching for Trustees at a time of great promise for people with lived experience of learning disability in Scotland. A number of key policy and legislative developments are currently underway and all of this happening as we begin our recovery from the pandemic when people with learning disabilities experienced deepened inequality and significant human rights abuses.  We are interested in speaking to individuals from a range of backgrounds including, but not limited to, finance, health care, human rights, fundraising / income generation.

At SCLD, we have launched a series of new programmes and initiatives, including our ground-breaking ‘Include For Good’ programme, which will challenge the status quo and ensure that people with learning disabilities are included in every aspect of Scottish life. The programme has recently appointed 11 people with learning disabilities as Rapporteurs and they will drive the changes needed across Scotland.  Our Trustees will work closely with our Rapporteurs to challenge and change attitudes and make Scotland a more equal country for everyone living with a learning disability.

If you believe you can play your part in driving this change, we want to hear from you.
