Board Members (Two Appointments)

Viewpoint Housing Association

Edinburgh / Lothians / Fife

Voluntary Appointments | Reasonable Expenses Reimbursed

Aspen People is delighted to be partnering once again with Viewpoint Housing Association to recruit two new Board Members, bringing experience in social housing and finance/accountancy to help shape the organisation's future.

For more than 75 years, Viewpoint has delivered high-quality housing, care and support services for older people across Edinburgh, the Lothians and Fife. Today, the Association owns and manages more than 1,300 properties and operates two care homes in central Edinburgh, with a longstanding commitment to helping people live independently, safely and with dignity.

With a strong financial position and clear social purpose, Viewpoint is well placed to consider future opportunities across its housing, care and support services. These appointments will help strengthen the Board as it considers the organisation's longer-term direction, ensuring Viewpoint continues to evolve while remaining financially strong, values-led and focused on delivering excellent services.

The Opportunity

Working alongside fellow Board Members and the Executive Leadership Team, you will contribute to Viewpoint's strategic direction, bringing sound judgement, fresh perspectives and constructive challenge to support effective governance and decision-making.

We are particularly interested in individuals who can bring experience in one of two areas:

Housing and the RSL Sector

We are seeking someone with a strong understanding of social housing, ideally within the Scottish Registered Social Landlord (RSL) environment. You may have held a senior executive, operational, strategic or governance role within the sector and will understand the opportunities and challenges facing housing associations.

You will bring an informed perspective to discussions around regulation, financial sustainability and future strategic opportunities, balancing effective scrutiny and risk management with an appreciation of how housing organisations can continue to develop and evolve.

Finance and Accountancy

We are also looking for an individual with substantial financial or accounting expertise who can contribute to the Board's oversight of financial performance, sustainability, risk and future investment.

A professional accountancy qualification would be particularly welcome, although we are open to individuals with significant relevant financial experience and the ability to provide credible, constructive challenge at Board level. Experience within housing, the wider public or third sectors, or another regulated environment would be advantageous.

About You

Viewpoint benefits from a Board with a broad range of professional backgrounds and experience. These appointments are intended to complement those strengths, bringing additional knowledge, perspective and expertise to support the organisation's future development.

Across both positions, we are looking for individuals who can demonstrate:

  • Relevant professional experience in housing, finance or accountancy.
  • Strong strategic thinking, sound judgement and an understanding of effective governance.
  • The ability to provide constructive challenge while working collaboratively with fellow Board Members and the Executive Leadership Team.
  • An appreciation of financial sustainability, organisational risk and the opportunities for strategic development.
  • Strong communication, influencing and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A genuine commitment to Viewpoint's values and social purpose.

Previous Board experience would be welcome but is not essential. We would also encourage interest from senior professionals considering their first non-executive appointment who have the experience, perspective and commitment to make a meaningful contribution.

Further Information

These appointments offer an opportunity to contribute to the governance and future direction of an established housing and care organisation, helping Viewpoint continue to deliver high-quality services while considering the opportunities ahead.

For a confidential discussion about either appointment, please contact Paul Rooney at Aspen People on 0141 212 7555 or email prooney@aspenpeople.co.uk.
