Artistic Director
£50,000 – £60,000
Glasgow / Hybrid

Vox Liminis is a pioneering arts and community organisation working at the intersection of creativity and criminal justice. Through innovative projects in prisons and communities, the charity uses music, songwriting, theatre, and other art forms to challenge perceptions of crime, harm, and justice – building connection, trust, and belonging where division often exists. With a track record of award-winning, socially engaged practice, and secured multi-year funding from Creative Scotland, this is an exciting moment for Vox Liminis to shape its next chapter.

The Role

The Artistic Director is a newly created leadership position that brings together artistic vision, strategic thinking, and community focus. The postholder will play a central role in shaping the organisation’s future – leading the development of its creative practice, building collaborations, and ensuring that art continues to drive strategy and impact.

This is a co-leadership role, working in partnership with the Operations & Finance Manager. Together, the two postholders will share responsibility for driving Vox Liminis forward – blending artistic and organisational leadership to ensure creative ambition, financial resilience, and strong community impact.

The Artistic Director will:

  • Lead forward a bold, inclusive artistic vision, co-created with staff, artists, and community members.
  • Design and deliver ambitious, socially engaged arts projects across prisons and communities.
  • Act as a visible ambassador for Vox Liminis, deepening partnerships across arts, criminal justice, academia, and policy.
  • Support organisational growth, including fundraising, strategic development, and building capacity to expand the staff team.

This is a hands-on position, balancing leadership with direct engagement in projects, musicians, and communities – with the opportunity to shape Vox Liminis’ impact for years to come.

The Person

The Board is seeking an inspirational and values-driven leader with the creativity, experience, and ambition to guide Vox Liminis into its next phase. Candidates will bring:

  • Significant senior experience in the arts, socially engaged practice, or community development with artists.
  • A strong track record of creating or leading socially engaged arts projects that address complex social issues.
  • Excellent communication and partnership-building skills, with the ability to inspire across diverse communities and stakeholders.
  • Fundraising and income generation experience, ideally within arts or community contexts.
  • A commitment to inclusive, ethical, and participatory practice, ensuring lived and living experiences remain central to Vox Liminis’ work.

The Opportunity

This is a rare opportunity to co-lead a highly regarded, creative organisation at a pivotal moment. The Artistic Director will have the platform to shape an ambitious vision, expand artistic reach, and deepen impact across Scotland and beyond. Working alongside a passionate team and unique community, the successful candidate will help to imagine – and create – a more just society through art.
