South Ayrshire Council plays a leading role across our area, shaping the places people live and work in. Our Strategic Economic Plan: Vision 2030 sets out our ambitions for our local economy by creating Great Places, Strong Businesses and Good Growth.

As one of three Co-ordinators within the Economy & Regeneration service and reporting directly to the Service Lead, you will play a crucial role in the successful delivery of Vision 2030. South Ayrshire’s economy is built around lots of smaller local economies, often based in the larger towns but extending across the most rural areas. These localised economies also present opportunities, as they tend to be distinctive, shaped by their environment and location. You will lead on a portfolio of strategic projects that support local places to thrive, place leadership and locally led investments.

You will work with key stakeholders to revitalise our town centres as the changing retail landscape now provides new opportunities to convert empty space into economic use. This requires collaborative working with partners, communities and, importantly, other council services.

We welcome applications with experience of regeneration and/or place making, with experience in either the private or public sectors. Project management experience is also essential.

Candidates should be able demonstrate expertise and experience in the delivery of local economic development, including regeneration schemes, and an understanding of the challenges of working in the public sector. The successful candidate must be a team player, persuasive and articulate, with the confidence to hold their own in a challenging environment.

Applicants should possess good IT, communication and customer service skills, and be willing to work flexibly across a variety of disciplines.
