Scottish Cot Death Trust
Executive Director
Glasgow
Salary: £50,000 - £60,000

The Scottish Cot Death Trust (SCDT) is the only charity in Scotland dedicated to the issue of sudden unexpected death in babies and young children and trying to find the answers through funding research. A small but extremely important charity, SCDT provides a wide range of support for anyone affected by a sudden unexpected death in infancy (SUDI). This is predominately for families but extends to any professional affected by SUDI. They also provide education sessions to various audiences about Safe Sleep and how to reduce the risks.

The charity office is in Glasgow with all activities provided across the country, whether that is the outreach support in the communities where bereaved families live, education delivered in workplace and community settings across Scotland or ways to support individuals with their own awareness or fundraising events.

The Scottish Cot Death Trust are now looking to find their new Executive Director. The team, board, and Scientific Advisory team at SCDT are extremely passionate about what they do. For many, making a difference in this small space is personal and more than just a job itself.  Additionally, Volunteer befrienders provide an invaluable part of the support service giving their time because they want to help others through what they have experienced too.

The Executive Director juggles three pillars of the organisation: supporting the bereaved families, education of the topic, and research such as raising the international profile or related funding. They will be responsible for strategy development and delivery of support services, funding, and management of all HR/finance. You do not necessarily have to come from a health and care background, but you should have excellent senior management experience, balancing complex workloads and delivering services. You will lead the organisation going forward and be a key part of the upcoming five-year vision. You should be an expert dealing with people and companies; it is all about partnerships and support.

If you would like to support this vital organisation, please get in touch with Kate Kennedy or Debbie Shields on 0141 212 7555.
